HIT Insulated Balcony Connections |
| Reinforcement continuity and thermal break system for cantilevered balcony construction that minimises the effects of cold-bridging experienced with traditional reinforcement that is continuous from internal slab through to external balcony. |
| The Halfen HIT Balcony Connection System is a reinforced and insulated continuity product designed to minimise thermal bridging. It allows structural connections to be made between external concrete balconies and internal floor slabs without interrupting the continuous thermal insulation of the external wall. |
| The HIT System reinforcement consists of an upper row of ribbed bars to provide full tension laps and a lower row of studs with forged heads to act as pressure pads for compression. The reinforcement, in stainless steel, passes through a continuous 80 mm thickness of polystyrene insulation. |

Applications - Balconies |
| The HIT System can be used when casting balconies in-situ. It is also ideal for pre-cast balconies, i.e. when the balcony is delivered to site with the insulation installed and the upper layer of HIT reinforcement projecting, ready for lapping over the top steel in the floor slab. The steel pressure pads in the bottom of the HIT System are easy to install so that they do not clash with the bottom steel in the slab. |
Applications - Threshold Detail |
| The HIT System is made in a range of dimensions to cope with most architects’ designs for the threshold detail. |
Applications - Facade Details and Movement Joints |
| Halfen will be pleased to advise on the detailing and finishes of both the balcony and the adjacent facade. Soft joints and cavity trays can be accommodated in a variety of ways. |
